A San Jose jury has awarded Apple Inc. $539 million in its latest retrial with Samsung over infringing smartphones.
The verdict—$533.3 million for infringement of three design patents and $5.3 million for two utility patents—represented a middle ground between the $1 billion Apple was seeking and the $28 million Samsung had targeted.
