The European Commission reinforced its desire for U.S.-based companies to restrict objectionable content online after releasing guidelines for online platforms aimed to prevent, detect and remove content that incites hatred, violence and terrorism. The commission hopes that U.S. tech giants will self-regulate content, though it’s unlikely that similar measures would be taken in the U.S..
