The government in the United Kingdom appears to be using e-discovery (mostly known as e-disclosure in the UK) methods more frequently. But there are some roadblocks that may have to be overcome for government uses to be as fruitful as those found in the private sector.

“The UK government has started a process of delivering e-disclosure service. This is a tough ask as few government departments work on up-to-date databases,” Exigent CEO David Holme told Legaltech News. “Moreover, it isn’t really accompanied by a robust information governance strategy. It demonstrates how far the government is behind the commercial sector, probably a decade or so.”
