The practice of law has traditionally been less receptive to technological advances than other professions. But recent leaps in technological capability, coupled with improvements focused on accessibility and end users, have helped reduce intransigence and encourage adoption. In particular, their ease of use appeals to all generations of lawyers.
While advances in legal technology have in the past focused on streamlining the back-office aspects of maintaining a practice, recent advancements have been aimed at improving the practice of law itself. This article looks at some of these technologies, how they are affecting the legal practice and how law firms can implement these solutions to appeal to all generations of attorneys. These include technology assisted review (TAR) tools, case management tools and artificial intelligence (AI), which automates certain processes, such as legal research, document review, contract formation, diligence and even preparing legal documents.
