It seems like nearly every day we hear about a new data breach that has impacted a company and/or its customers, causing these businesses significant financial and reputational damage.

Sometimes, cyberattacks occur simply for the hacker’s thrill; other times they’re enacted to gain specific information, hide malware or just steal whatever a hacker can get his or her hands on. What isn’t always recognized is that large businesses, with data like credit card details, addresses and passwords, all of which can be sold to help criminals commit identity theft and fraud, are not the only targets of this malicious behavior.
