Finding the right combination of metrics to drive efficiency in your corporate legal department isn’t a set-in-stone process. For some, it may mean working with IT to overhaul the metrics-collecting system. For others, it may mean working with the financial part of the business to know how to best display the metrics. And for a number of departments, it means looking internally to find what metrics should be collected at all.

Building out an analytics system and dashboard can be a unique process but at the Association of Corporate Counsel’s (ACC) Legal Ops Conference in Chicago, a panel of in-house experts who have gone through the process lent their expertise. The “Analytics 2.0: Extreme Makeover—Law Department Metrics Edition” panel consisted of Jamie Brigman, head of operations, general counsel organization, McKesson Corp.; Juanita Luna, director, office of the general counsel, Pacific Gas and Electric Company; and Molly Tynan Perry, chief operating officer for office of the general counsel, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Scott Springer, senior director at HBR Consulting moderated.
