Of the insights on the need and effectiveness of the new amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), none may be as encompassing as those of Magistrate Judge Mitchell Dembin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, offered at Legaltech West Coast’s “Judicial Perspective: Six Months In, Are the New Federal Rules Having the Intended Effects?” session.

“In the eyes of some,” Dembin said, “some of the changes made to the amendments to the FRCP were a solution in search of a problem, but there were some issues that absolutely needed to be addressed, and they were timely.”
