Though not new, technology assisted review (TAR) has only recently taken off among legal professionals. To explain some ways in house legal departments and law firms are applying the practice today, experts from all walks of e-discovery came together at Legaltech West Coast in “Moving Beyond E-Discovery Review: TAR for Smart People.”

“A lot of people try to make [TAR] complicated. I think it’s really simple,” said session moderator and Catalyst CEO and founder John Tredennick. As Tredennick explained it, TAR is the process humans use to teach computers to identify documents, followed by the process of ordering documents for review by likelihood of relevance. “There’s really nothing more than that to it.”
