The world of Big Data has always been a complicated place, but recent upticks in cyberattacks have left organizations across all industries scrambling for ways to protect their information. In search of their cyber North Star, many organizations have turned to security frameworks for guidance. Attempting to define the paradigm among this adoption is Tenable Network Security, which conducted a survey of over 300 IT and security professionals across the U.S. to better understand what, how and why security frameworks were adopted.
“As we continue to see one high-profile cyberattack after another, IT security has become a top challenge for the modern enterprise, and CISOs are struggling to not only maintain their security posture but also communicate the importance of sound security practices to executive leadership,” explained Tenable strategist Cris Thomas. “One of the best ways to standardize and measure overall success is to adopt some type of guiding framework. Over the years, plenty of frameworks have emerged to help organizations meet their business needs and security goals, and we wanted to see if IT security professionals were taking advantage of these frameworks, and if so, which ones were seen as the most valuable.”
