Some say that accountability is key to effective cybersecurity, and the Department of Defense is taking this to task in its Cybersecurity Discipline Implementation Plan.
Officially made public this month, the plan – issued in October and amended in February – aims to hold leaders accountable throughout the chain of military command for key cybersecurity tasks, requiring them report on setbacks and progress. According to the document, the initiative’s “Implementation Plan” centers around four “Lines of Effort,” each of which focuses on a different facet of “cybersecurity defense-in-depth” exploited by government adversaries attempting to access information networks at the DoD.
