These days, anyone with an Internet connection is susceptible to a data breach. Although it may not seem too surprising that your neighbor’s info was phished, the thought that international behemoths like Target are susceptible to hacking should raise some alarm. In “Offense Informs Defense: Minimizing the Risk of a Targeted Attack,” an upcoming session at ALM’s cyberSecure event, security experts Eduardo Cabrera and Pamela Passman will shed light on the people and motivations behind hacks, how attacks work, and the information that hackers want to steal. They’ll also be discussing ways for organizations to reduce their risk of a breach. Legaltech News caught up with the speakers to chat about the topics that they’ll discuss during the event.

“I think for many people, the Sony hacks … was a wakeup call,” Passman, president and CEO of the Center for Responsible Enterprise and Trade (CREATe.org), told LTN. “It was a realization by the company and by every employee of the company that information they have that is confidential or they wanted to be confidential … can be accessed, can be hacked.”
