FTI Consulting Inc. announced on Nov. 18 its sixth annual Advice From Counsel study, which helps e-discovery leaders share ideas and advice. FTI partnered with Ari Kaplan Advisors again this year to conduct telephone interviews with in-house legal professionals responsible for e-discovery, among other tasks.
Ari Kaplan, legal consultant and principal of Ari Kaplan Advisors, Kate Holmes, managing director at FTI Technology, a segment of FTI Consulting, and Mike Kinnaman, senior managing director at FTI Technology, co-authored the study, which interviewed 25 e-discovery managers in Fortune 1000 companies. Common themes in the study this year, said Kinnaman, show that corporations are directly engaging e-discovery tasks and that more people with backgrounds in law and information technology are engaging the role of e-discovery manager.
