Chief information officers should have a prominent voice in every organization’s budget talks, according to a recent webinar from Gartner Inc. “Every Budget is an IT Budget” featured Michael Smith, vice president and “distinguished analyst” at the Stamford, Conn.-based research company.
“Every enterprise, every department, every employee could not do their daily tasks without [information technology],” said Smith during his 56-minute solo presentation. In September, Gartner published two papers on the topic: “How CIOs Influence Decisions When Every Budget Is an IT Budget” and “Every Budget Is an IT Budget.”
