Arriving at The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas is nothing short of overwhelming for a New Yorker. Sin City’s major hotels seem bigger than the entire island of Manhattan, and are more disorienting than the Space Mountain ride at Disneyland. The Venetian and its conjoined twin, The Palazzo, have 8,108 guest rooms, plus a conference center and a zillion shops, restaurants and casinos. It took me 25 minutes to walk to the conference area where ARMA International held its 58th Annual Conference and Expo, from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1.
ARMA used to stand for the Association of Records Managers and Administrators, but now its name is just a wink to its history. It has evolved into a massive group, with more than 27,000 members working in multiple industries, including legal, health and finance.
