Just over a month after attorneys debated whether prejudicial juror misconduct should warrant a new trial for a former Houston County school bus driver involved in a deadly crash, the Supreme Court of Georgia has vacated a trial court’s judgment denying Shalita Jackson Harris’ motion.

The high court determined both the Houston County Superior Court and affirming Georgia Court of Appeals applied the wrong legal standards in denying Harris’ request for a new trial when she learned jurors researched potential sentences for the charges she faced.
