Utah made a notch in the patchwork of data privacy laws steadily cropping up around the country by enacting its own such law on March 24. 

With the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), the state became the fourth after California, Colorado, and Virginia to enact its version of data privacy protections. This time, however, attorneys are noticing some key differences from preceding laws—the Utah regulation poses fewer obligations to businesses than other ones around the country.
