While changing legal regulations to allow nonlawyers to offer legal services or take ownership stakes in law firms is likely to boost access to justice efforts, it may be small and solo law firms that stand to benefit the most­, at least initially.

At the “Regulatory Reform, Technology, and Access to Justice” session of the Legal Services Corporation 2022 Innovations in Technology Conference, which took place virtually on Wednesday, justices from the two states that have most liberalized their legal regulations, Arizona and Utah, discussed how those changes are likely to impact their local markets.
