It’s a common occurrence these days for law firms and legal departments to partner with law schools in a bid support innovation projects—and reap the benefits of those efforts.

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, for instance, previously partnered with the University of Colorado on a legal tech accelerator program and went on to hire one of the participating students full time. And Liberty Mutual’s legal department regularly partners with Suffolk Law School for a “Boston Legal Design challenge” to spur ideas for new legal tech solutions.
