For corporate legal departments, remote document review has been an inescapable reality of life under a global pandemic. And thanks to the cost savings and efficiencies gained, remote review appears poised to stick around long after the public health crisis has receded. But just how satisfied in-house teams have been with the overall quality of that experience likely depends on the complexity of their reviews. 

Jack Thompson, assistant director of the legal chief operations office at Sanofi, noted that the quality of large, first-pass remote document reviews he’s seen has generally been consistent. However, results on some of the more complex matters that Sanofi and its providers farmed out to remote reviewers working from home have been weaker.
