The French Competition Authority has fined Google €500 million for failure to comply with injunctions issued last year to negotiate in good faith with French news publishers over payment for the use of their content online.
The authority also ordered Google to present the publishers with “an offer of remuneration for the current use of their copyrighted content” or risk paying additional damages of up to €900,000 a day.
