Bigger isn’t always better. But it may be when it comes to alternative legal service providers. Offering a broader, more holistic range of capabilities, for example, may help ingratiate ALSPs to cost-conscious and cybersecurity-wary legal departments. But it could also have the unintended effect of homogenizing an already-crowded marketplace.

Mike Russell, senior manager and head of global legal operations at Expedia Group, noted that legal departments are generally looking to reduce the number of outside partners they are dealing with for cybersecurity, cost and efficiency purposes.
