A California appeals court will take another pass at whether LinkedIn Corp. is allowed to shield data analytics company hiQ Labs Inc. from accessing LinkedIn users’ public profile information in light of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision narrowing the scope of liability under a federal computer trespassing law.

On Monday, the Supreme Court granted LinkedIn’s writ for a petition of certiorari filed by attorneys from Munger, Tolles & Olson and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and remanded the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in light of the high court’s decision earlier this month in Van Buren v. United States.
