Working remotely has become standard operating procedure at law firms in the past year, even if that’s not an arrangement that many were prepared to invest in as 2020 started. This new environment brought with it a number of changes, both in technology requirements and security threats.

The reality is that some level of remote work is here to stay as most law firms will likely be operating under a blended model for the foreseeable future. Many staff members may come into the office on some sort of a regular basis to establish and cement group cohesiveness, while working from home or other remote locations the rest of the time. This will require firms to maintain infrastructure and facilities that secure remote access and support a far greater level of remote work than most firms had before the pandemic. Because of this, firms need to consider new approaches to securing their data as their employees perform sensitive client work from diverse locations.
