Wednesday’s “In-House Legal Leaders Discuss: Innovative Techniques for Using Technology to Reduce Legal Spend” panel at Legalweek(year) 2021 emphasized just how much planning and analysis in-house teams have to put into change management. But as in-house teams are increasingly expected to function more like a business unit, they’ll also be pushed to collaborate with other departments in the process, especially when it comes to technology platforms.
To be sure, panelist Connie Brenton, vice president, law, technology and operations at NetApp, said there is still a tendency for people to think of legal tech as “complex.” Still, there are some simple solutions such as document signature tools or workflow management systems that help drive efficiencies without necessitating a steep learning curve.
