In recent years, law firms have launched alternative legal service providers to cost-effectively provide high-volume document review and other services at scale or with technology. The rise of these ALSPs corresponds to the growing emergence of vendors and the Big Four serving corporate legal departments' legal needs. Law firms argue their ALSPs offer the best of both worlds: legal services at scale with Big Law expertise nearby. Time will only tell if these ALSPs will allow law firms to continue their dominance on corporate clients' legal work. Above, Legaltech News highlights a few of the flexible lawyering, document review, consulting, software developer and other subsidiaries created by law firms that have recently made news.
