While 35 firms out of the Am Law 100 have launched captive alternative legal service providers, a far smaller number of these new units are structured as separate businesses, according to a new report from legal advisory firm Baretz+Brunelle.

The company, which unveiled its own NewLaw consulting practice in January, described its report as the first comprehensive analysis of captive ALSPs in the Am Law 100 and Global 100. In total, the report looks at 48 captives belonging to the 123 firms in either ranking.
