The U.S. Army will reinstate 300 or so users recently banned from its e-sports Twitch channel after a controversy erupted about why the ban happened, with the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University arguing the ban targeted users based on their protected “viewpoints,” and the Army contending it happened because users engaged in “harassing behavior.”

According to a Wednesday news release from the institute and news reports, the Army has announced it will reinstate banned users from its live-stream Twitch sports channel. In addition, it will review and clarify its Twitch streaming policies and procedures, and will resume streaming, which had been discontinued in recent weeks, on its channel soon, according to the reports and the institute.
