Three lawyers at the Am Law Second Hundred firm, who were sanctioned by an Alabama federal judge in a case representing the Alabama Department of Corrections, also worked on a similar case for the Maryland state government.
With the EU Commission taking the lead, and questions around how the act’s copyright rules will work in practice, the regulation is sure to pose unique challenges to AI providers and modifiers alike.
Speakers at the conference discussed how legal professionals and legal operations can navigate gen AI adoption and evaluation at their organizations.
“I try to keep the number of no-touch deals—contracts that need no legal input—pretty high. Then I track the low-touch and high-touch deals to figure out where we can reduce friction," said Jasmine Singh, general counsel of Ironclad.
“Smaller teams tend to be more resource-constrained, and they’re usually so ‘heads down’ handling the day-to-day needs of the business that they don’t have the bandwidth to explore new service or support models," said Stephanie Corey, CEO of the legal operations consultancy UpLevel Ops.
