The Co-operative Group has withdrawn general counsel Alistair Asher as its sole nominee director to the board of the Co-op Bank after a conflict of interest was identified.
The decision, which was taken late on Monday (24 March), followed an announcement by the bank that it needed to raise a further £400m of capital to comply with European equity rules.
