The Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS) instruction of Clifford Chance (CC) to lead a review into the bank’s lending practices has come under increased scrutiny after the author of a report into RBS’ dealings with small businesses called into question the magic circle firm’s independence.
In an interview with The Independent, businessman Lawrence Tomlinson said: “We know [Clifford Chance] has relationships with some of the small businesses that have made complaints against RBS… there are too many conflicts of interests.
