Dentons is facing a claim from a former client, which alleges the firm's negligence led to substantial losses following a drafting error in a lease contract for a Mayfair car showroom. The claim, which was issued last month in the Commercial Court, relates to Dentons' drafting of leases and advice given to Panama-incorporated Park Lane Holdings, the former long leasehold owner of the BMW showroom on Park Lane. Park Lane Holdings alleges that Dentons' real estate team drafted leases on behalf of the property's management that pegged annual rent increases to the consumer prices index (CPI), rather than the retail prices index (all items) (RPI), which management says had been agreed in negotiations with tenant BMW.
