Eversheds’ announcement that they would be rolling out a pilot scheme which will merge the LPC with the training contract, made me consider whether students coming through the academic system now would prefer law firms who adopted this scheme.

I am a second year trainee at a West End law firm and I completed the LPC on a full time course at a popular London training provider. I spent most of that year with little money and eager to commence my career. I also recall that learning about court forms and standard processes in a classroom, with a teacher regaling us with tales of “when I was practising…” made the application of the law appear confusing and alien.
