Why did you become a lawyer? I was told by a careers adviser when I was 17 that I would never make it as a vet so my mother suggested I did a work placement with some solicitors her business had used for years. Working in the criminal department in a law firm in Essex was pretty exciting and, before long, I was regularly attending the police station on Wednesday afternoons dressed in my best Essex nightclub suit.
