Alcatel-Lucent’s $137m (£88m) settlement to resolve federal criminal and civil bribery charges in late December capped a record year for enforcers of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), reports Corporate Counsel.

FCPA enforcement actions catapulted from a mere five in 2004 to 74 actions last year, according to a year-end review released on Monday (3 January) by Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
