Leading French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel has launched a London funds practice, reports The Am Law Daily. The move comes as the firm attempts to diversify a finance-focused practice that left the office exposed to the rigours of the downturn. A steep decline in transactional work saw City revenues drop by 51% to £9m in 2009, while UK income contributed just £2.9m, down from £9.4m in 2008.
