Manchester University LLM student Karamvir Chadha questions Nick Clegg’s right to change the country’s electoral system

In a recent speech to students at City and Islington College, Nick Clegg proposed replacing the House of Lords with an elected second chamber. Along with a referendum on electoral reform for the House of Commons – which the Liberal Democrats were able to secure as part of their power sharing deal with the Conservatives – this forms part of Clegg’s proposed package of constitutional reform. A package presumably aimed at making the UK more democratic.
