Considering where the market was in the first quarter of 2009, the financial results being reported by most US firms are far from the gloom that many feared. Yes, demand is down, business activity is still very fragile and general counsel are becoming far more assertive in demanding more for less. But so far it's not the paradigm shift some were predicting.
