Intel has appointed a new general counsel as the company pays $1.25bn (£750m) to settle ongoing antitrust and patent disputes with rival Advanced Micro Devices, reports Corporate Counsel.

Douglas Melamed joins the semiconductor chip maker from US firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, where he advised clients – including Intel – on antitrust matters and investigations. He has also investigated antitrust matters for the US Government.
