“I am a four-year PQE solicitor who has been redundant for nearly four months now. Given the dismal state of the market, I am not very confident about securing a job before January 2010.
“I have thought about using my period of unemployment to try and start a family asap (I am married, my spouse is working and I don’t have a substantial mortgage), but I am worried that such a move could potentially lead to a two-year gap on the CV which might make it harder to get a job once I’ve had the baby.
