“I recently got a job offer from a firm I’d really like to work for, but the problem is that I have already accepted an offer from another firm. I haven’t signed any contracts yet – I was sent an informal offer by email and asked to accept.
“I feel bad for attempting to back out from the first offer, but I am determined to work for the other firm, so the issue for me is how to renege on the first job offer properly. My biggest concern is that being in such a small and well-connected professional sector, I’m worried that my reputation will be hurt if the second firm finds out I have backtracked on a job offer.
