Eversheds has sealed an alliance with a Saudi Arabian firm in a bid to further expand its emerging markets coverage.

The top 10 UK firm has formalised its links with 20-lawyer Saudi firm Hani Qurashi, which has offices in Jeddah and Riyadh. The firms have worked together previously on deals in the banking, real estate, commercial and corporate sectors.

Eversheds said the Saudi tie-up is part of the expansion of the firm’s presence in the Gulf region, where it already has offices in Doha and Abu Dhabi.

Hani Qurashi is managed by founding partner Hani Al Qurashi and executive partner Hany Kassem. Eversheds Middle East Islamic banking head Amjad Hussain will oversee the alliance, supported by Middle East managing partner Christopher Jobson.

Hussain said: “The Saudi market provides huge opportunities for clients as the local economy continues to grow and needs investment.

“We are already working for a number of Saudi, regional and international banks and other institutions in connection with their business in Saudi Arabia and our formal co-operation is a natural next step to ensure we can continue to provide our clients with the service they expect from us.”

Jobson added: “Over the last couple of years we have focused on development in the Middle East and it is great to see another major milestone unfold.”
