“I am a trainee currently choosing my seats. Despite the financial rewards, my ambition is not to be partner, though not for the usual reason. My problem is that I don’t think the rewards are big enough!
“I don’t wait to become involved with the long ladder and the top-heavy nature of equity – I want to go for the big cash. What areas of law will allow me to do this? No doubt I will have to move to a non-legal role, but what will get me moving? The future of private equity is unclear, at least in the short term. So does this leave the only option as hedge funds and other funds in general?”
