Scotland has been fairly successful in attracting call centres, but the majority of these jobs are at the lower end of the market, dealing with payment processing in areas such as banking, digital TV, mobile phone top-ups or international calling cards and motor insurance. Unfortunately, such employment can easily disappear as global businesses decide to move jobs overseas or incorporate those call centres into existing operations through acquisitions and mergers.
