The current global financial crisis and high-profile insolvencies of well-known companies have refocused attention on the suitability of insolvency regimes.Although the current events have prompted calls for reform, many countries have only recently introduced changes to their insolvency regimes. But in the UK and across many other jurisdictions, the effectiveness of such insolvency regimes is once again centre stage, stimulating discussion on whether current laws are 'fit for purpose' and whether more should have been done during the good times to prepare for where we are now.
