“I’m a two-year qualified corporate lawyer with a large London firm which is currently in the middle of a redundancy consultation. It doesn’t look like my position is at risk, but the firm is looking to make some voluntary redundancies on quite good terms. This has got me thinking about whether to take a voluntary pay-off and try to do something entrepreneurial. It’s not that I don’t enjoy my job, just that I don’t see it as my sole career aim in life.

“My question is partly whether people think it’s a good idea to try to set up my own business; but more than that, I’m interested to know if there are many cases of former lawyers going to become successful entrepreneurs.”
