Financial disclosure statements filed with the US Office of Government Ethics have revealed the earnings of the private practice lawyers nominated for top-level posts in US President Barack Obama’s new administration.

Eric Holder, Barack Obama’s nominee for attorney general, made $3.3m (£2.3m) at Covington & Burling last year, an amount that includes deferred compensation. He stands to earn between $1m (£700,000) and $5m (£3.5m) from Covington as part of a separation agreement with the firm.
