Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has strengthened its competition capabilities after hiring former House of Lords adviser Christopher Kerse. Kerse has joined the top 20 law firm as a consultant from the House of Lords, where he spent a decade advising on European Union (EU) and competition law matters. As legal adviser to the Lords EU Select Committee, he dealt with all aspects of EU law and institutions, and drafted more than 50 reports on proposed European legislation. Before joining the House of Lords Kerse served as under secretary at the Department of Trade and Industry, where he advised on community law and international trade. He also led negotiations on the European merger regulation and legislation.
