Simmons & Simmons and Herbert Smith have bolstered their Russian arms, with Simmons appointing a new head of corporate in Moscow and Herbert Smith hiring a partner in the City.Simmons has transferred London corporate partner Isabella Roberts to Moscow as the office's sole dedicated corporate partner.Roberts, who joined Simmons in 1997 and made partner earlier this year, advises investment banks and corporates.Her relocation follows a review by Simmons of its business and support services, which concluded that the firm would move around 15 lawyers - including two partners - from London to other offices, primarily in the Middle East and Moscow. News of the relocation came as Herbert Smith hired finance partner Ed Baring from Allen & Overy's Moscow office, where he had been an associate since joining in 2001.Baring will become the ninth partner in Herbert Smith's Moscow office and the firm's third dedicated finance partner in the City when he joins in December.
