Entertainment company MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has appointed Sharifah Bailey as its new head of business and legal affairs for emerging markets. Bailey took up the London-based position last week, replacing Robert Cummins, who left the company for a role with satellite communications company Intelsat in September.Bailey joined MTVNI in May 2006 as a legal counsel and was promoted to senior legal counsel in January this year. As part of her new role she will be responsible for overseeing company legal affairs in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Africa.She will report to Jim O'Neill, vice president of finance and strategic services for the emerging markets function, and Larissa Zagustin, vice president of business and legal affairs for MTVNI.Bailey has played a senior role within the emerging markets team over the last two years, leading negotiations for a number of projects including the channel launches of MTV Hungary, MTV Israel and MTV Czech - which is scheduled to launch in 2009.
