DLA Piper has lost the co-head of its Italian private equity group to top 20 City rival Norton Rose. News of Davide Proverbio's move to Norton Rose comes as Linklaters also attempts to strengthen its position in the country. Proverbio, who had been leading the private equity practice at DLA Piper alongside Goffredo Guerra, is set to join Norton Rose's Milan corporate practice - taking the firm's presence in Italy to nine partners. He joins a team of three corporate partners at Norton Rose - including Italian managing partner Paolo Daviddi, who also heads the corporate finance team. The move comes four years after Norton Rose launched in Rome and around eight years since its Milan office opening. Proverbio is expected to take up a management role at the City law firm, although his responsibilities have yet to be confirmed. The departure will leave Guerra in sole charge of DLA Piper's private equity practice. However, the partner loss came within days of DLA Piper moving to build up its Italian banking practice.
